Avocado made in the south, perfectly ripe

Delicate flavour, useful for the health of adults and children and a must-have in the kitchen for creating recipes with a unique flavour. We know everything about avocado but when is the right time to enjoy it?

The color doesn't lie, green is the color of the avocado and if it changes there is a problem and we must be able to recognize it to avoid peeling it and finding ourselves with an unusable product. However, there are infallible methods that allow you to understand when an avocado is ready to be tasted and enjoy its many properties.

How to recognize a ripe avocado?

The avocado must be dark green in colour , neither tending to black nor tending to red, and its surface must recall that of a crocodile, it is no coincidence that it is also known as " alligator pear ", its wrinkled skin recalls scales and its shape makes you think of that of a pear. If you notice dark spots, the advice is not to consume it as this is a symptom of poor storage. In general, the scheme that will be useful to you is:
  • light yellow, unripe avocado;
  • dark brown, overripe avocado.
Another trick for understanding the level of ripeness of the avocado is the consistency : if the avocado bruises when you press lightly on the peel, it means that it is ripe; otherwise it means that it is still immature. Finally, you can check if your avocado is ready to be eaten by shaking it slightly as you hold it to your ear: if you hear something moving inside it means that the fruit is overripe, and therefore the pulp is detaching from the seed. Once ripe, the avocado can be kept for 2-3 days in the refrigerator , if opened it can be kept in the refrigerator for 1-2 days.
